What is the difference between Spot UV and Raised Spot UV?

Standard Spot UV is a flat glossy coating applied to specific areas of the card. Raised Spot UV, however, is elevated above the surface—so you can actually feel it when you run your fingers across the card. The raised effect is approximately 50 microns in height.

Can Raised Spot UV be applied on both sides of the card?

Yes. Raised Spot UV can be applied to the front, back, or both sides of the business card for a more impactful and premium design.

What materials are used for these business cards?

These cards are printed on premium 16PT stock and finished with soft-touch suede lamination on both sides, giving them a smooth, scuff-resistant, luxury feel and a total thickness of approximately 19PT.

What is the recommended design coverage for Raised Spot UV?

For best results, UV coverage should be under 30%. Excessive coverage may cause cards to stick together or reduce quality. Large areas of raised UV are not recommended.

What size should Raised Spot UV elements be?

Individual UV elements should ideally not exceed 1” x 1”. Smaller, detailed accents like logos, icons, and text highlights work best.

What is the minimum font size for Raised Spot UV?

We recommend a minimum of 6pt font size. For thicker fonts, 9pt or larger is preferred to ensure clarity and sharpness.

How do I set up a Raised Spot UV file?

You must provide a separate UV mask file along with your print file. The mask must be vector-based (preferably created in Adobe Illustrator). Use 100% black (K only) to indicate UV areas, and white for no UV. Avoid gradients, shadows, or grayscale effects.

Can I use patterns or full coverage UV?

Yes, but only with caution. Up to 70% coverage may be acceptable if using thin lines, patterns, or small shapes. However, full heavy coverage is not recommended for best results.
